THE OPTICAL COATING PROCESS MAINLY INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING KEY STEPS:

Cleaning: Before coating, the optical element needs to be thoroughly cleaned to remove surface dirt and impurities. Cleaning methods include ultrasonic cleaning and manual cleaning, the purpose is to ensure that the surface of the substrate is clean and avoid pollution affecting the quality of the coating. ‌

Drying: The cleaned optical element needs to be dried to remove moisture and solvents from the surface. It is usually dried by hot air drying or vacuum drying. ‌

Substrate preparation: According to the needs, select the appropriate substrate, and grinding and polishing treatment, in order to obtain a smooth surface, flat substrate. This step is to ensure the surface quality of the substrate, affecting the adhesion and optical properties of the coating. ‌

Coating: The substrate is placed in the coating machine and one or more layers of film are coated on the surface. The choice of coating materials depends on the desired optical properties and functions, and commonly used coating materials include metals, alloys, oxides, nitrides, etc. This process requires precise control of parameters such as coating speed, temperature and atmosphere to ensure the quality and performance of the film.

Curing: After coating, curing treatment is required to make the film firmly bonded to the substrate and improve its durability and stability. Curing is usually done using methods such as heat or ultraviolet irradiation.

Inspection: The quality of the cured optical component is checked to ensure that the quality and optical properties of the coating layer meet the requirements.

Packaging: The qualified optical components are packaged to protect their surfaces from damage and contamination.

Optical coatings have a wide range of applications, including but not limited to enhancing the transmission, reflection, or polarization characteristics of optical components. Specific applications include reflective film, anti-reflection film/anti-reflection film, filter, polarizer/polarizer film, compensation film/phase difference plate, directional film, diffusion film, brightening film, etc.
