Brewster windows are primarily employed in laser cavities to generate beams with high polarization purity. When unpolarized light strikes an uncoated substrate at Brewster's angle, the reflected component becomes completely S-polarized while the transmitted portion remains partially P-polarized. Multiple passes through the substrate significantly attenuate the S-component in the transmitted beam, thereby producing a highly P-polarized output. Multilayer thin-film polarizing coatings can be applied to these substrates to substantially enhance both single-pass efficiency and extinction ratio.
Brewster windows are uncoated optical substrates that serve as effective polarizers when used in series. When oriented at Brewster's angle, these windows transmit the P-polarized component of incident light with minimal reflection loss while partially reflecting the S-polarized component, thereby enhancing the degree of polarization for partially polarized light sources.
Brewster windows are used for larger angles of incidence to present a circular cross-section of the incident beam at Brewster's angle.
Our customers are coating the surface of the Brewster window with metal coatings (Al, Ag, Au) for enhanced reflection of aluminum, and dielectric coatings with high laser damage threshold.

Optical Modulators and Laser Protective Enclosures: Brewster windows are widely used in optical modulators and laser protective enclosures due to their ability to generate high-purity polarized beams, enabling precise control of light polarization states.
Laser Systems: In laser systems, Brewster windows serve to isolate and regulate gas mixtures while minimizing reflection losses, thereby enhancing beam quality and operational stability.
Optical Component Protection: These windows function as environmental barriers, shielding internal optical components from external contaminants such as dust and moisture.
